MOOSSE Gamasot is a premium 100% cast iron pot designed to bring out the best flavor and texture of the food. Its design is inspired by the gamasot, a traditional Korean cast iron pot dating back 2000 years. In Korea, the gamasot is well known to be the best pot for making rice. Rice cooking seems simple, but with other common pots many experience “3-story rice” (as Koreans call it) where the bottom is burned and the top is not cooked well. Only the middle part is somewhat edible. This usually results from ineffective heat distribution caused by the cookware. With MOOSSE Gamasot, rice is cooked evenly, resulting in moist and delicious rice. MOOSSE Gamasot is also great for all types of cooking such as slow cooking, boiling, braising, frying, roasting and baking. (No special cleaning is necessary, unlike bare cast iron cookware.) Always let the cookware cool before washing. Do NOT add water before cooling. Avoid harsh detergents, bleach, and abrasive brushes, such as steel wool. Do NOT clean in the dishwasher. Banging can cause cracks to the enamel coating. Dry completely before storing. Air-dry or use a cloth to dry. Do NOT use heat to dry. FOR MILD BURN OR RESIDUE SPOTS Once cooled, mix baking soda and water into a paste and apply on the burnt surfaces. Scrub vigorously using a non-abrasive sponge or brush. Rinse thoroughly with water and air-dry before storing, avoiding direct sunlight. FOR SEVERE BURN OR RESIDUE SPOTS Once cooled, add water and 4-6 tablespoons of baking soda to the cookware, depending on the size. Boil on medium heat for 10 minutes. (Ensure there is enough water so it does not burn again.) Turn off the heat and let sit for at least 1 hour. Leave the baking soda water in the cookware and scrub vigorously using a non-abrasive scrub or sponge. (If the food burn is very severe, rinse and apply more baking soda, then scrub again.) Rinse thoroughly with water and air-dry before storing, avoiding direct sunlight. Repeat the above steps several times, as needed, until the stain is gone. Optional: MOOSSE cookware does not require seasoning. However, using a large amount of baking soda may leave the surface dry. In that case, after drying completely, coat with canola or vegetable oil before storing. (Avoid olive oil, as it has a low smoking point.) This is my first purchase from Moosse and I’m in love with my Gamasot rice pot, (I purchased the 6.3”). It arrived quickly and with clear instructions.Best part, even though it is cast iron, this pot did not require seasoning so I washed it with soap and water, and used it for dinner!I figured for my first use I’d make rice on the stove; I am so pleased that the rice cooked perfectly and evenly. It’s so beautiful, I served the rice directly from the pot and used the wooden trivet that was included. The pot is great for keeping foods hot while serving.I can’t wait to making a stew and do frying in this pot since it retains heat well.
